With a new high-capacity telecabine system installed in the village itself, the Chateau offers quick access to the pistes of the Grand Massif, Europe's third most important ski domain which links the five resorts of Samoëns, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz and Flaine. You can drive to the Grand Massif Express lift in two minutes or use the free shuttle buses that stop almost next to the house.

The area covers 260+kms of skiing - more than 130 runs at all levels of ability with some of France's most modern high-capacity lifts. Pistes range from the highest (2640m) at Flaine, with its spectacular views of Mont Blanc, through to the challenging downhills of Samoëns itself and the gentle slopes or pretty wooded trails of the family skiing areas it shares with Les Carroz and Morillon. The remarkable "Cascades" run from Flaine to Sixt is 16km long. There are English-speaking instructors throughout the Grand Massif and special facilities for minding small children.

In addition to this huge area there are also 67 kms of groomed cross country ski tracks starting almost next to the Chateau. The Samoëns skating rink is only a 6-minute walk away.

Samoëns is a beautiful centre to return to for your après ski after a day on the slopes, and pleasant to stroll around, stopping at the many cafes and bars. It is also an easy drive to other resorts including Avoriaz, Morzine, Megève, Chamonix and Argentière.

Ski pass and ski hire prices are generally reasonable. Check the Samoens website (click here) for full information on current prices and options.
